Tap to Pay on iPhone is a convenient and flexible way to accept payments using your iPhone. Available through the Teya app, this feature transforms your iPhone into a secure payment terminal, accepting contactless payments from physical cards, Apple Pay, and other digital wallets, all without any additional hardware.
Device Requirements
iPhone XS or newer
iOS 17.7.1 or later
Stable internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data required for all transactions)
Security Settings
Before using Tap to Pay on iPhone, ensure these settings are configured:
Passcode or Face ID/Touch ID must be enabled on your device
Automatic Date & Time must be turned on (Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically)
Note: If you use a phone case that holds physical payment cards, we recommend removing them while processing payments to prevent accidentally charging your own cards.
Setting Up Tap to Pay on iPhone
Download the Teya app from the App Store;
Sign in with your Teya credentials.
Enabling Tap to Pay on iPhone
From the home screen, tap Sell at the bottom bar;
Select Tap to Pay on iPhone as your payment method;
You'll be prompted to accept Apple's Terms and Conditions;
Link your Apple ID when prompted;
After the setup is complete, you will see the tutorial for accepting payments on your iPhone.
Practice Mode
You can practice accepting payments anytime by:
Taping the question mark icon in the top right corner;
Select Practice Now;
Follow the on-screen instructions to simulate a payment.
Payment Mode Lock
To prevent unauthorised access to other app features when sharing your device:
Go to Sell section and select Tap to Pay on iPhone;
Tap the open lock icon in the top right corner;
Select Yes and authenticate yourself;
The app is now locked to Payment Mode only;
Tap the lock icon again to unlock when needed.
For Optimal Performance, we recommend:
Keep your iPhone updated to the latest iOS version
Ensure strong internet connectivity before starting transactions
Keep your device charged above 20% battery
Watch for the customer payment confirmation before removing the card
Always offer a receipt via email or text
Always verify the payment is approved before completing the sale
