Sending and receiving money with a Teya Business Account

With a Teya Business Account, you can send and receive money just as you would with a regular account. You can transfer money to other accounts, share your details to receive bank transfers, and set up Direct Debits for recurring payments.

We’ll walk you through how to do all the above in this guide.

Transferring money to a bank account

To send money from your Business Account:

  1. Open the Teya Business app and go to Business Account.

  2. Go to the Transfers tab.

  3. Select an existing recipient from the list or tap Add recipient*.

  4. Tap Send money.

  5. Enter the Amount and a Reference, then select Continue.

  6. Confirm transfer amount on the Review transfer page.

  7. Enter your passcode to confirm the payment.

*Add recipient: Every time you add a new recipient, you'll go through a verification process called Confirmation of Payee, which confirms the identity of the recipient, avoiding therefore the risks of transferring money to the wrong account.

There are three possible outcomes you can receive when adding a new recipient:

If the details you enter match those of the account holder, their information will be added to your list and a verification badge will show next to their name. 

If we find a name that’s close but not identical, you can decide whether to use this match or go back and check the details before proceeding.

In case no match is found for the account holder's name and the account details provided, we'll return the screen below. You'll then have the option to go back and check the information submitted.

Setting up a Direct Debit

When setting up a Direct Debit from a third-party site, enter your sort code and account number.

To edit or cancel, please do so on the third-party site itself.

If you’re unable to cancel your Direct Debit on the third-party site, you can contact us via in-app chat or give us a call on +44 128 389 6876. We can only help with cancelling a Direct Debit, not editing.

To find your account details, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Teya Business app and go to Business Account.

  2. Go to the Info & docs tab.

  3. Under Account details you’ll find your sort code and account number.

Receiving money from a bank account

To receive money in your Business Account from another account, you simply need to share your account number and sort code with the sender.
