Troubleshoot printing

If your Card Machine is not printing receipts or is producing blank paper, it is usually due to a low battery or an issue with the till roll. Use this guide to check your power levels and ensure the paper roll is inserted correctly.

Check the till roll

If your receipts come out blank, the paper roll is likely inserted the wrong way round. Thermal paper only prints on the shiny side. If the printer makes a noise but no paper comes out, the roll is likely empty or jammed.

PAX Card Machines

The PAX device has the printer lever located at the back.

  1. Locate the lever at the back of the Card Machine.
  2. Lift the lever to unlock and open the printer cover.
  3. Remove the current roll or any empty cardboard core.
  4. Insert the new roll so the paper unrolls from the back with the shiny side facing up.
  5. Pull about 5 cm (2 inches) of paper out past the cutter.
  6. Close the cover securely and tear off the excess paper.
Sunmi Card Machines

The Sunmi device has the printer handle located at the front.

  1. Find the opening handle on the front of the Card Machine.
  2. Gently lift the handle to open the printer cover.
  3. Remove the current roll or any empty cardboard core.
  4. Insert the new roll so the paper unrolls from the back with the shiny side facing up.
  5. Pull about 5 cm (2 inches) of paper out past the cutter.
  6. Close the cover securely and tear off the excess paper.

If you are unsure which way the paper goes, look inside the paper tray. There is often a small illustration showing the correct orientation.

Check the battery status

Look at the battery icon in the upper right corner of the screen. If the icon is red, you must charge the device before it will print again.
