How to take a Payment
Follow these steps to process a transaction securely.
You can start a Tap to Pay payment from either the Home tab or the Sales tab.
- Open the Teya App and go to the Home or Sales tab.
- Tap Sell at the top of the Home screen, or tap the + icon in the top right corner of the Sales tab.
- Choose a quick amount or enter the payment amount, then confirm the total with your customer.
- Choose the Tap to pay payment method and tap Charge.
- Ask your customer to hold their card or device flat against the contactless area on your phone.
- Keep your phone still until the transaction is complete.
- If a PIN is needed:
- A secure PIN entry screen will appear automatically.
- Hand your phone to the customer so they can enter their PIN.
- Never ask for the PIN or enter it on the customer's behalf.
Wait for the confirmation screen to make sure the payment has gone through successfully.
If your customer is paying with a digital wallet, they’ll need to unlock their device before tapping.
Confirming the Payment is complete
Always verify the transaction status before handing over goods. A Payment is successful only when:
- The Teya App displays an Approved message or a confirmation tick.
- The app returns you to the receipt screen.
If you do not see the success screen, check your transaction history in the Teya App to confirm the status before trying the Payment again.
Best practice for reliable Tap to Pay payments
- Battery life: Keep your phone battery above 20% to prevent interruptions.
- Updates: Keep your phone’s operating system and the Teya App updated to the latest versions.
- Receipts: Always offer to send a receipt via email or text for the customer's records.
Renaming your Tap to Pay subscription
