If you take Payments both in person and online, you will have two distinct stores in your Teya Account: a Card Machine store and an E-commerce store. Keeping these stores separate is an industry standard that ensures your online and in-person Payments are processed securely. This article explains how your two stores work and how to navigate between them in your portal.
How your two stores work
Payments made online work under different rules and security checks than Payments made on a Card Machine. To keep your data clear and compliant, your Account divides these into two separate stores.
Unified Account: Your overall Account stays unified. You can view reporting for both stores side by side in the Teya Portal.
Settlements and reporting: Settlements, refunds, and reporting work the same way for both stores.
Clear labelling: Transactions are clearly labelled by their source so you always know where a Payment originated.
Unique setups: Each store has its own configuration and its own subscriptions.
Where can I find my stores?
Both of your stores appear in the store switcher located at the top-left of your Teya Portal.
Tip: You can rename them in your Portal Settings to make the labels clearer for your team.
Before you start: When setting up online Payments, such as installing a plugin, generating API credentials, or configuring email notifications, verify that you are working in your E-commerce store. The correct settings will not appear in your Card Machine store. For plugin setup, see here, or see here for custom integrations.
What I cannot do with my stores
Because the separation is permanent by design, there are a few strict rules for managing your stores:
You cannot take Card Machine Payments on your E-commerce store.
You cannot take online Payments on your Card Machine store.
You cannot merge the two stores together.
You cannot move individual transactions between the two stores.
Important: This separation stays in place for the life of your Account. If you no longer need one of the stores, you can review your setup, but you must maintain both if you continue to accept both payment types.
