Keeping your business details accurate ensures your compliance checks, tax documents, and Settlements remain correct. If your business undergoes changes—such as a new trading name, address, or legal structure—you must update your Teya Account immediately to avoid disruption.
Update contact details (Email or Phone)
This applies to changes to your main contact email, login email, or the mobile number used for account security.
Because this is sensitive information, we perform security checks to verify your identity before making changes. Contact Teya Support to confirm your old and new details.
Update trading details (Store name or Address)
Follow this process if you change your "Trading As" name (visible on receipts and terminals) or if your shop moves to a new location.
Required information
To update these details, send the following to Teya Support:
- Online presence
A link to your business website or an active online advertisement.
- Invoices or bills
A business utility bill, a statement from a previous provider, or a supplier invoice addressed to the business or owner. An invoice you issued to a customer is also acceptable.
Note: If your store name appears on your Card Machine, we will provide instructions on how to refresh the device to display the new name once the update is complete.
Legal entity and company name changes
These changes affect your contract and compliance status. The process depends on your business structure.
UK Limited Company name change
If your UK Limited Company changes its registered name but keeps the same Companies House registration number:
- Ensure the new name is visible on Companies House.
- Contact Support with your Company Registration Number, old name, and new name.
- Confirm you are trading the same products and services.
Important: If your trading activity has changed significantly, we may review your account before processing the update.
Creating a new Limited Company
If you incorporate a brand-new Limited Company (with a new Companies House registration number) rather than renaming an existing one, we cannot simply rename your Teya Account.
- This requires a new account.
- Our team will help you submit a new submission for approval for the new company.
- You can reach out to your Sales agent or Contact Support.
Sole Trader updates
Sole trader accounts are legally tied to the individual.
- Name or Address change: Contact Support with your new trading name or address. We may request Proof of Business documents (see the list in the "Update trading details" section above).
- Changing structure (Sole Trader to Limited Company): For compliance reasons, we must create a new account for you. Contact your sales agent or Support team for assistance.
Ownership and Director changes
Limited Company (New Director)
The account holder must be a registered director.
- Update Companies House to list the new director.
- Contact Support to update the account holder details.
Selling a business (Sole Trader)
Sole trader accounts cannot be transferred to a new person. For compliance reasons, we must create a new account for the new owner. Contact your sales agent or Support team for assistance.
Update personal home address
This applies to Directors and Sole Traders for identity verification. You must provide a valid proof of address dated within the last 3 months.
Accepted documents:
- Driving licence (front and back).
- Utility bill.
- Bank statement.
- Council or tax letter.
Opening a new store
If you open a second location or new branch, contact your sales agent or Support team for assistance.
