Understanding Hosted Checkout

Hosted Checkout is a secure, customisable payment page for your online customers. You can use it with your web store, Pay by Link, or a custom integration. It gives your customers a seamless way to pay while keeping their card data safe.

How Hosted Checkout works

When a customer is ready to make a Payment, they are redirected to your secure checkout page. They can pay using their preferred method, and you receive the Settlement in your account.

Customer journey:

  • Your customer chooses to pay on your site or app.

  • They are redirected to your branded checkout page.

  • They select a payment method and complete the transaction.

  • 3-D Secure runs in the background to verify the Payment.

  • The customer sees a confirmation and returns to your site.

Supported payment methods

Your customers can pay using a variety of secure methods across all devices. Hosted Checkout supports:

  • Visa

  • Mastercard

  • American Express

  • Apple Pay

  • Google Wallet

Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC)

If a customer uses a card from another country, they can choose to pay in their own currency using Dynamic Currency Conversion.

What you need to know about DCC:

  • For your customer: They see the price in their home currency and can choose how to pay.

  • For your business: Your Settlement amount, reporting, and accounting always stay in your local currency.

  • Availability: DCC works automatically for eligible cards. It is not currently available for Apple Pay Payments.

  • Opting out: If you do not want to offer DCC, contact Team Teya to turn it off for your store.

Customising your checkout page

You can update the look of your checkout page in your Teya Portal Settings. Any changes you make will apply automatically to your web store, Pay by Link, and custom integrations.

Customisation options:

  • Logo: Upload an image to show at the top of the page. PNG files with transparent backgrounds work best.

  • Legal links: Paste the URLs for your terms and conditions and privacy policy. These will appear in the checkout footer.

  • Merchant note: Add a short message for your customers, such as delivery times or return policies. Keep this to two sentences maximum.

Setting up a custom integration

If you have your own site or app, your developer can build a custom integration using the Teya API. For full developer setup, see the custom integration guide here.

Integration steps:

  • Create a checkout session using the API.

  • Redirect your customer to the secure Hosted Checkout page.

  • Receive a confirmation when the Payment is complete.
