Split Bill is a feature on your Teya Card Machine that allows you to divide a single transaction amount across multiple customers. You can split the total evenly or assign custom amounts to each person. This guide explains how to enable the feature and process split payments.
Activating Split Bill
Before you start: You must enable this feature in your settings before you can use it during a sale.
- Open the Menu on your Card Machine.
- Select Payment Settings.
- Toggle the Split Bill option to On.
Your Card Machine is now ready to divide payments for groups.
Processing a split Payment
You can split a bill evenly (for example, dividing £30 by 3 people for £10 each) or by custom amounts.
- Enter the total bill amount on the main screen.
- Tap the three dots next to the Charge button.
- Select Split Bill from the options.
- Choose how to divide the amount:
- Even split: Select the number of payments you want to split the total into.
- Custom split: Tap Custom Split to manually enter different values for each person.
- Tap Charge to begin processing the payments.
- Process the Payment for the first customer.
- Note: Customers can use different payment methods (card, contactless, or mobile payment) for their specific share.
- Repeat the process until the full balance is cleared.
Receipts and summaries
The Card Machine generates documentation for both individual customers and your records.
- Individual receipts: Each successful transaction generates its own receipt for the customer paying that share.
- Split Summary: Once all payments for the bill are completed, you can print a Split Summary. This document shows the full breakdown of the total bill and all associated payments.
