The tips feature allows you to accept gratuities directly on your Teya Card Machine. You can set three customisable tip percentages to suit your business needs or allow customers to enter a specific amount.
Enable the tips feature
Follow these steps to turn on tipping in your settings:
- Tap the Menu icon in the top right corner of the main screen.
- Select Payment Settings.
- Enter your Manager PIN when prompted.
- Toggle the Tips button to the on position. The switch will turn green to indicate it is active.
To disable the feature later, follow the same steps and toggle the switch off.
Customise tip percentages
By default, the Card Machine offers 10%, 15%, and 20% as tip options. You can change these presets while in the Payment Settings menu by using the - and + buttons next to each percentage to decrease or increase the amount.
A Custom Tip Amount option is always available during a transaction, allowing a specific value to be entered manually.
Accept a tip during a sale
Once enabled, the tipping option appears during the standard Payment flow:
- Enter the full Payment amount on the keypad and tap Charge.
- The tip selection screen will appear. Select one of the preset percentages or tap Custom Tip Amount to enter a different value.
- The tip is automatically added to the total. Ask the customer to tap, insert, or swipe their card to complete the Payment.
- When the Approved message appears, you can print the receipt.
